This chapter begins by highlighting the basic features of the information and communication technology and relation-based societies. Due to their inherent characteristics, relation-based countries cannot take full advantage of the new information and communication technologies as much as rule-based countries to improve the efficiency in business operations. This inherent inability of relation-based societies hinders their ability to innovate. To overcome the lack of innovation, Asian economies increasingly copy the technologies created by the United States.
